The Production Manager will work with the Plant Manager to accomplish production targets by communicating job expectations, monitoring and qualifying job results. This individual will work with a production team of about 20 people to coach and conduct performance management with the staff by enforcing policies, procedures and behaviours.
This is a full-time, Mississauga based role within a rapidly growing start-up. We are currently on a one shift operation and the work schedule is Monday through Friday. Given we are in a rapid growth mode, the successful candidate would have the flexibility to adapt to changes in schedule depending on day to day needs, with the possibility of the role eventually moving to a second, afternoon shift. The candidate must be willing to work in a temperature controlled, cold and wet environment.
-Drive the production staff to work efficiently and safely to meet production targets
-Lead the staff to follow all SOPs and GMPs
-Identify and address issues of non-conformances in a timely manner
-Drive employee engagement by developing trust, rapport and collaboration with the team
-Help create a ‘right first time’ manufacturing environment
-Identify and take action on process improvements to increase efficiency
-Lead problem solving events
-Conduct safety inspections
-Hire, coach, train, mentor and develop staff
-Provide direction and feedback to the sanitation shift that works in the evening
-Ensure accurate tracking and consumption of raw and packaging materials in our systems
-Being a contributor to the ongoing projects and strategic plan for the expansion of our state of the art manufacturing plant
-Post-secondary degree in a technical discipline
-Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory/management role in a manufacturing environment
-Preference given to those who have previously worked in a food and beverage manufacturing environment
-Working knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles
-Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
-Strong attention to detail
-Strong ability to multitask and prioritize
-Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel
-Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
-Experience driving employee engagement in a manufacturing environment is desired
-Mechanical aptitude, experience collaborating with maintenance, equipment root cause analysis as well as corrective/preventative actions are desired
